Building an Entire Gingerbread TOWN

So, the title just about says it all. This year for Xmas some friends and I decided to go way overboard and create an entire gingerbread town. Because lets face it, just building a house is kinda done to death and a bit boring.

Designing the Town

Rather than just jumping into this blind, we decided to take a sensible approach and plan out the town we would be creating. This is the layout we decided on.

Once the layout was complete, we needed to model out each different building type and create stencils for them. Once the stencils were created, we printed these out on 3d Printers.

Once printed we had a whole bunch of stencils that we used to cut the gingerbread to size.

Shopping

Once all the planning was done, we could estimate how much stuff we would need from the shops to bake all the Gingerbread… Queue a quick trip to the shops to buy a crapload of baking stuff.

Not forgetting to stock up on snacks!

Baking LOTS of Gingerbread

We then made about 6278 batches of gingerbread and used the 3d printed cookie cutters to create all the required shapes for each building. Like any town, it needs to have inhabitants… what cooler than having a dinosaur inhabited town!

This was the state of my fridge after the baking was completed:

Putting it all Together

Now that the town has been planned and all the baking has been completed. We started the process of building the town!

We started by paving the roads with melted chocolate!

This was the first build, before it got decorated

Before long we had an entire block of the town completed and populated with cute little dinosaurs

The town was looking better and better as it quickly came together

Finally completed, its absolutely beautiful!!
